Manchester City beat London City Lionesses 2–1 on 1 November, with Lauren Hemp restoring the visitors’ lead just two minutes after the equaliser. City’s official match report confirms that Khadija Shaw and Hemp supplied the second-half goals that secured the away victory.

Hemp set up Shaw’s opener in the 53rd minute. Jana Fernández headed London City level following a corner in the 72nd, before Hemp finished from Mary Fowler’s delivery in the 74th. Those contributions are documented in the goals and assists record. Hemp’s influence therefore extended to creating the first goal as well as scoring the winner.

Pressure did not determine the score

ESPN recorded 24 attempts for London City against seven for Manchester City. The away win shows why an advantage in attempts cannot be treated as a result in itself, although those figures alone do not establish a complete tactical explanation. City reached 22 points, while London City remained on 16 after eight matches, according to the season table.
