Chelsea moved back to the top of the Women’s Super League with a 6–0 away win over Charlton on Sunday, 1 November. The club’s official match report records four goals inside the first 19 minutes, giving the visitors a substantial advantage well before the interval.
Nathalie Björn opened the scoring after three minutes. Melvine Malard scored in the 10th and 19th minutes, either side of Ellie Carpenter’s 13th-minute effort. Aggie Beever-Jones added the fifth after 57 minutes and Giulia Dragoni completed the scoring in the 66th, as documented in ESPN’s event record. Chelsea identified Dragoni’s finish as her first competitive goal for the club.
Why the margin matters
Chelsea and Manchester City both have 22 points from eight games, but Chelsea’s goal difference is now +23 compared with City’s +12. The six-goal margin therefore strengthens an advantage while the points remain level; it does not settle the title race. Chelsea also reported that Lauren James left the game injured before half-time. The report does not establish a confirmed absence period.
