Harry Kane won the 2026 men’s Ballon d’Or at the 26 October ceremony ahead of Kylian Mbappé and Lamine Yamal, according to UEFA’s announcement. Bayern’s 27 October update then detailed planned tributes before the Magdeburg and Dortmund games.

Which season does the award measure?

UEFA records 73 club-and-country goals in 2025/26, including 14 in the Champions League, and a domestic treble for Bayern. Those figures describe a completed campaign, not Kane’s total in the current season. An individual award also changes neither Bayern’s present league position nor the outcome of a fixture. The meaningful comparison connects the honour with the season it evaluates.

Celebration and competition

Bayern attach the planned tributes to two different fixtures: a cup tie and a league match. For readers, that separates the ceremony programme from the sporting task. Showing a trophy before kick-off does not determine a result, and last season’s totals should not be presented as this season’s scoring rate. Comparisons with another striker also need equivalent scopes: a number covering club, country and every competition cannot be placed beside a domestic-league total without qualification.
