Atlanta City appointed Richard Gunney as chief soccer officer ahead of its planned 2028 NWSL entry, ESPN reported on 19 October.

Gunney starts on 1 November after joining from Gotham and will report to Mauricio Culebro. The appointment builds the expansion club’s sporting structure before its competitive debut; it does not mean the team is entering league play this season.
